There’s a tiny patch of dirt in our front yard that happens to be Ellie’s favorite. Sure, she loves to paint her nails, dress up, and all things girly, but man, this girl loves the dirt! One rainy, gloomy day, we remembered the forgotten pile of rocks in the yard and decided to give them a little spruce up. My favorite activity growing up was painting “ladybug” rocks and I thought doing something similar would keep Ellie and I entertained for awhile.  After rinsing off all the dirt, we got our our acrylic paints and got to work. Ellie, the rather expressive artist, managed to cover her few rocks in paint, along with the table, chair, her arms and belly. ;)

After letting all our rocks dry, we delivered them back to Ellie’s favorite dirt patch. I’d thought she’d play with them for a minute or two and forget about them, but no! She loves them! Especially the little dog and mermaid. A few days later we had a slew of neighborhood girls playing in our little dirt pile with all the rock people. It was a hit! I’m now scheming for a village of rock people and mermaids. I think we need just a few more if we are going to share with so many friends! And maybe I just really want to paint a few more. ;)
