Momiform.
As in, Mom Uniform.
Have you heard of them?
I used to think I didn’t really have one, but I totally do!
My momiform used to consist of sweats and a t-shirt. Every single day. After I had Ellie, I started having a hard time finding clothes that fit my style and my new post-baby body. I didn’t have a lot of time to get ready in the morning and let's face it, yoga pants and a baggy t-shirt were the most convenient items to throw on. They were less than flattering and didn’t do much for my self confidence. I’m a big believer in dressing the way you want to feel, and wearing sweats everyday wasn’t helping. So after a few months, I decided something needed to change.
I started searching local and online shops to freshen up my new mom wardrobe. I feel like I’m finally starting to redefine my style. Here’s my top five essentials for a mom uniform. And stay tuned for an awesome giveaway at the bottom of this post!
Black Chiffon Tunic c/o PinkBlush
1: LONG AND LOOSE. After having Ellie, I haven’t been as comfortable wearing really tight shirts. They feel confining and I still feel slightly self conscious about my tummy area. I also don’t like having to pull and tug on my shirts if they’re shorter, so I invested in a few longer, slightly looser shirts. This chiffon black tunic from Pink Blush is one of my weekly favorites. It’s long and flowing, but belts at the waist for a flattering figure.
2: LEGGINGS. That black, flowing shirt above pairs perfectly with a pair of leggings. It feels like I’m wearing a baggy tee and sweats, but it looks ten times better. I picked up a pair of black leggings at Target recently, and I won’t tell you how many days I wear them in a row. :)
Ivory Lace Gray Blouse c/o Pink Blush
3: NOTHING BUT COMFTY. In the morning, I need something easy and convenient to throw on. I used to wear my baggy, old, workout tees all day, they were so comfy! I tried replacing them with items equally as cozy, but much more cute. This lace shirt from Pink Blush gives the illusion that you actually spent more than ten minutes getting ready, but feels like your favorite oversized sweatshirt.
4: SKINNY JEANS. I’m all about finding that perfect pair of jeans. I resisted wearing skinny jeans for so long, but I seriously live in this pair from American Eagle. They’re are my go-to jeans, anytime of the week (and if we’re being honest, I wear them multiple times a week! Saves on laundry, right?)
5: MASCARA AND LIPSTICK. I don’t always have time for a full makeup routine, but I can vouch that even a swipe of mascara and lipstick can do wonders for your momiform. If you have any suggestions for a good lipstick, send them my way. I’ve just been trying out whatever is on sale. ;) I’ve also tried a few fancy, not-so-cheap, brand name mascaras, but I always end up coming back to this one. It’s my favorite (and oh so affordable!)
Do you have a daily “uniform” and if you’re a mom, momiform? I’d love to hear what you wear! Speaking of uniforms, if you need to update yours, Pink Blush is offering one lucky reader a $25 e-gift card. Be sure to check out all the new arrivals for fall, I can’t wait to order a few new pieces. You can enter the giveaway below, it ends on Saturday, September 20. All entries will be verified. Good luck!
I'm currently trying to find new ways to dress my postpartum body, it's a real struggle! I have to dress cute for work, but when I become a SAHM (soon I hope) I don't want to be in frumpy clothes every day! Thanks for sharing your tips.
ReplyDeleteLeggings leggings leggings!! I can't get enough!
ReplyDeleteYoga pants and t-shirts!
ReplyDeleteLace and pearls. Simple, yet classy.
ReplyDeleteI love the Ivory Lace Gray Blouse c/o Pink Blush! So cute
ReplyDeleteI'm not a mommy yet but I do have my "dailies" that I wear. I usually prefer a comfy loose tee (chiffon usually) and black skinny jeans. The black jeans make my legs look skinnier and toned while the loose shirt makes me look more dressed up. Oh and add a pair do flats as well.
ReplyDeleteI love this! I've actually been looking for cute Momiform ideas for after the baby comes.
ReplyDeleteLove this! This is basically my list! Being a mom really changes your wardrobe huh!?
ReplyDeleteHigh waisted skirts with tucked in shirts. I always pick comfy skirts and t-shirt like tops, and it makes me feel so good!
ReplyDeleteThat lace top is to die for! Super cute! I try to wear loose fitting clothes too - especially something that makes it easy to breastfeed discreetly... wraps and button downs have been so helpful with that!
ReplyDeleteI love your wardrobe! Such a cute giveaway!
ReplyDeletei live in jeans at home but dress top and dress pants at work
ReplyDeleteI have no idea what my "momiform" will be when little girl gets here in a few weeks, but right now my preggo body loves maxi dresses and the good old yoga pants & t-shirt combo - and I LOVE my maternity skinnies. I definitely wear them more than once in a week. Hey, it's just as you said... saves on laundry ;) I love that ivory top, btw!
ReplyDeletelex you are the cutest mom! xoxox :)
ReplyDeleteOh my goodness! You look so cute lady!!
ReplyDelete:) Rebecca
jeans and a tshirt most days - but it's definitely time for some new things - I love that lace shirt!
ReplyDeleteYou are just the cutest! My momiform definitely needs some updating!
ReplyDeleteSkinny jeans, a grey v-neck shirt from Target, a baseball cap, and slip on canvas shoes! Makes for the perfect Saturday outfit.
ReplyDeleteSkinny jeans and usually whatever shirt is clean! Love that lace shirt!
ReplyDeleteJeans and a tshirt. But if we are being honest.. sweats! Every day SWEATS!
ReplyDeleteI have the same dilemma.... i haven't been able to get out of the whole "sweats & a tshirt" thing. I probably need a new wardrobe. haha
ReplyDeleteI still have a lot of baby weight to lose so jeans and bigger t shirts are my uniform. It also makes for easier nursing access since that's what I do ALL DAY LONG. A tight budget makes it hard to buy a new wardrobe but I think I could maybe change things up a bit here and there.
ReplyDeleteYoga pants and tank tops!!!
ReplyDeleteyou are SO CUTE !My uniform is a big large top, leggings, and booties or sandals. With some fun jewelry!
ReplyDeleteThis is exactly how I have felt! I feel like I live in sweats, but when I actually put on something nice, i feel so much better!
ReplyDeleteI'm trying to lose the baby weight (and then some) so I haven't wanted to buy new clothes, but my husband insisted so I finally did, and it worked wonders for my self confidence! :)
You are adorable. My momiform is tunic or long shirt (don't feel confident about my after birth hips), knee length shorts, and salt water sandals. However, I know it will change now that summer is coming to an end.

love that black tunic. and one word. leggings all day everyday!
ReplyDeleteYou look awesome Lex! I laughed so hard when I started reading this post because you and I are on the exact same brain wave. I'm posting a collab with Pink Blush on Thursday and I also wrote about mommy style. :)
ReplyDeleteI think you should share more style posts. You do a really great job with them and I think you have a unique sense of style that's worth sharing!
I would love some new clothes!
ReplyDeleteI usually wear yoga pants and a shirt. I need a new wardrobe as my clothes get too baggy slowly but surely! By the way, you look beautiful in every shot!!
ReplyDelete#1. American Eagle skinny jeans are the best. I don't know how they're more comfortable than all my other pants.
ReplyDelete#2. That green and pink mascara will always be my go-to.
Eric's basketball shorts and a tshirt if we are spending our days at home! I pretty much wear everything I wore before Mia, minus heels! But long shirts are my faaaave!
ReplyDeleteCurrently it's my baggy basketball shorts and whatever loose T I can find in the clean laundry pile hahaha I could definitely use a couple new things!
ReplyDeleteMy tend to be a loose skirt and shirt with cowboy boots. So comfy! And gives the appearance that I actually tried in the morning ha!
ReplyDeletetoo cute! love the sweater!
ReplyDeleteMy go-to outfit is a halter tank, some jeans and sneakers. Everything else (jewelry, jackets etc) depend on my mood or if I'm not latte which I usually am haha
ReplyDeleteMy momiform is leggings, comfy skinny jeans, loose shirts, slip on canvas shoes and flats. Can I ask what the lipstick is called in the above picture. I love the natural look it gives you. And that mascara is the bomb! My favorite!
ReplyDeleteOn the daily I throw on shorts and a tank top and flip flops and it does nothing to help my self confidence. Pink Blush has super cute things that are so reasonably priced and I keep saying I'm going to get a few things from them and haven't yet. Thanks for this opportunity.
ReplyDeleteI'm gonna say if I'm at home, a t shirt and leggings or sweatpants. When we leave for the day, either a comfy skirt or dress, or jeans with a cozy tee. I'm all about looser in the tummy area too!
ReplyDeleteJeans and a tank top are definitely my "momiform". It's really hot where I love, so we don't pull out the fall clothes until much later in the season. It is hard to get motivated to do something different. It's so easy to put on jeans and a tank top! But, I do wish I had some dressier options. I see other moms who put more effort into their outfits and makeup and always wish I could pull that off too!
ReplyDeleteI would love to update my "momiform! :)
ReplyDeleteI am all about the loose-fitting shirts. I, too, am a little less confident when it comes to my tummy area after having my two babes. I really like that brand of mascara, but I've also discovered Revlon's Grow mascara (it's cheap) and I like it pretty well, too.
ReplyDeleteLooking great, my dear!

You are so cute! Lately, I've been living in skirts and comfy shirts.
ReplyDeleteBaby girl is set to arrive in just 9 weeks, so I will definitely be needed a bit of an overhaul on my wardrobe! Great suggestions here :)
ReplyDeleteI would love to win!
ReplyDeleteyou are so adorable.
ReplyDeleteyoga pants and a t-shirt I would have to say - shaunie on rafflecpter
ReplyDeleteI don't like the way I look in bermuda shorts, but don't wear short shorts, so summer time is hard for me! I've recently been wearing lots of skirts and dresses which are so breezy and comfty! That's totally my go-to look for summer. Once fall comes, it's boots with leggings all day every day. Oops! Just too cozy to pass up
ReplyDeleteIf I didn't work full time I would live in jeans.
ReplyDeleteBoyfriend jeans are a staple in my momiform...
ReplyDelete~ Kim Pincombe Cole
I'm with ya on the tight fitting shirts. I've started going up a size in tshirts just so I am more comfortable. I basically wear boyfriend jeans, a tshirt and mascara. done. ha.
ReplyDeleteJeans and a cardigan. Always comfy and flattering. I may or may not have like 20 cardigans... it might be a good idea to mix it up a little with some of the cute tops from Pink Blush.
ReplyDeleteYou are so cute! I love all your outfits. I have to be honest, on the days I stay at home with my baby I'm usually in leggins and a t-shirt. But for going out, I'm also usually in skinny jeans and some sort of looser fitting top and/or a cardigan.
ReplyDeleteWhoops, ***leggings :)
ReplyDeleteMy momiform is a v-neck tee (I love the soft Vintage ones at Old Navy), dark skinnies from American Eagle and either sandals or Sperry Top-Siders. When it's hot, I switch my jeans out with J.Crew chino shorts.
