big hero 6 movie night - he & i blog
It’s out, it’s out! After seeing Big Hero 6 in theaters last November (Ellie’s first movie theater experience!) we’ve been counting down the days until it was available for purchase! Since first watching the movie, Ellie has started giving us fist bumps then saying “badalalalala.” Ad-or-able. We had to snatch up a copy for ourselves from Walmart the day it came out. How could we not?! :)

To celebrate our new purchase, we had a little family movie night, in which Ellie was enthralled the entire time. We had a lot of fun putting together a few fun treats and crafts before the movie, with Ellie’s plush Baymax by her side the whole time. “He’s my favorite!” We ordered him from Walmart.com and he was the perfect addition to our movie night party. If you’re ready for a super easy Baymax mask and cookie tutorial, scroll down!

Directions: Line a pan or plate with wax paper. Divide white baking chocolate into two bowls. In the microwave, warm each bowl of chocolate for 20-30 second increments, stirring in between. Once melted, stir red food coloring into one bowl. Spoon a generous amount of both red and white melted chocolate onto the tops of the cookies. Set on wax paper and let set in the freezer for about 10 minutes.

Melt a small amount of semi-sweet baking chocolate in microwave. Using a round tipped utensil (I used a chop stick! :) carefully adorn the cookie with eyes and a line across to create Baymax’s face. Using the same method and baking chocolate, you can make Baymax’s mask face or a low battery signal. (May takes a few practice tries!) Let chocolate decorations set before serving.

Directions: Download and print mask template. Carefully cut out template and trace or pin onto felt. Cut out each piece of felt and hot glue together. Use an exacto knife to carefully cut out eye holes through each layer (you could try to cut the holes out before, but they may not line up as well). Cut elastic down to size and attach with hot glue. Run around the house like Ellie yelling “I super hero! I save the day!”

Best movie night we’ve had this year! Have you purchased Big Hero 6 yet? I learned that when you purchase the Big Hero 6 Blu-Ray/DVD + Gift With Purchase Set includes a digital movie on Vudu while, supplies last. All I have to do is scan my receipt using the Savings Catcher in the Walmart app, then watch for a message on my phone or email. Now we can watch Big Hero 6 on any device! I know what our next road trip movie will be. :)
